Smarter Delivery Orchestration: How Retailers Unlock Efficiency Without Added Costs

Sustainability Meets Profitability: How Retailers Can Win on Both Fronts

Improving service levels to retailers is rarely talked about or properly measured, but it has historically meant arriving on time at a scheduled delivery window. Retailers are now demanding better visibility as the progress of the incoming loads so they can better utilize their resources at the store level. In other words, a delivery window that you may or may not hit isn’t good enough anymore. They want to know in advance what orders made it onto the truck and they want to see the progress of it coming in like an Uber. The technology is available for this, but most distribution environments involve a group of disparate systems from various vendors cobbled together. Tackling these complex real-time interfaces is a challenge area that separates the most progressive retailers from the pack.

Reducing costs while improving visibility and services levels may not be as glitzy as eCommerce or new AI technology at the store level, but there is plenty of real low-hanging fruit opportunities in retail transportation that can actually move the needle on profit margins.
