Asendia USA Supports a Leading Beauty Brand in Optimizing International Shipping

The Customer

The Challenge

A beauty brand known for its strategic marketing, influencer collaborations, and technology-first approach to cosmetics has been growing rapidly. Headquartered in New York, this direct-to-consumer and subscription-based brand delivers personalized products and curated boxes to customers around the world. With increasing demand across Canada and key international markets, the company needed to find a better way to approach logistics, shipping, and customer experience on a global scale.

As order volumes surged, the brand faced growing operational strain. Their previous intra-Canada delivery provider struggled with long transit times, especially to western provinces, lacked weekend delivery options, and provided limited proof-of-delivery visibility. During the 2024 peak season, the company’s shipping operations were further disrupted by Canada Post strikes creating backlogs, delays, and inconsistent service.

Internationally, Rest of World (ROW) shipments from Pennsylvania encountered similar problems: delayed transit times, limited tracking, and insufficient customs visibility. Data and reporting processes limited the brand’s ability to gain a clear view of performance or efficiently manage billing across its growing regional footprint.

To continue delivering on its promise of fast and reliable service to customers worldwide, the brand needed a logistics partner who could deliver not only speed and reliability but also data transparency, flexibility, and technology integration.

IT Innovation and Customization

The brand enlisted the help of Asendia USA, a global cross-border e-commerce logistics provider with a consultative approach and specialized e-PAQ solutions. Together, the brand and Asendia USA built a shipping program designed to enhance customer satisfaction and drive operational efficiency across the world.

For Canada, the brand adopted Asendia’s e-PAQ Select Direct Access Canada DDP service, which enabled a major transformation in fulfillment operations. Transit times were cut nearly in half, weekend deliveries expanded to account for roughly 25% of shipments, and photo proof of delivery (POD) capabilities gave customers new confidence and transparency in their orders.

For the brand’s international (ROW) markets, Asendia took a consultative, data-driven approach, optimizing routes and services to the top 17 destination countries. Utilizing e-PAQ Select DDP services, the partnership ensured smoother customs clearance, better cost visibility, and a consistent experience across the UK, EU, and other global markets.

A hallmark of this partnership is the level of customization and technological integration Asendia USA delivered. Beyond logistics, Asendia’s IT team designed customizable digital tools to provide the brand with real-time insight and control over its operations. Following are some of the features included:

Each day, Asendia USA automatically pushes shipment data directly to the brand’s system through a Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP). This daily data push includes batch tracking reports, billing invoices, and transfers, all stored within a centralized data library. This process eliminated time-consuming manual report requests and streamlined performance tracking.

At the brand’s request, Asendia’s IT team modified invoice structures to include additional API-derived columns, allowing for more precise readings and available data.

Through Asendia’s client portal, the brand can now generate custom reports by date range, product type, destination country, and shipment event status. This enhancement empowers the brand’s logistics team to manage performance analytics without waiting for external data pulls.

When new Mexican customs requirements mandated Tax ID inclusion on all parcels in early 2025, the brand’s subscription-based model created a unique challenge: existing subscribers often hadn’t supplied the necessary data. Asendia quickly responded to cross-reference subscriber lists and obtained the required Tax IDs preventing widespread parcel holds and ensuring continued delivery flow. The quick response demonstrated not only Asendia’s global reach but also its commitment to its partners.

Operational Resilience and Flexibility

Expanding to Europe

The Impact

Looking Ahead

When Canada Post strikes disrupted much of the country’s logistics network in late 2024, Asendia’s intra-Canada solution continued operating uninterrupted. By leveraging a diversified carrier network and direct access DDP routing, the brand was able to maintain fulfillment continuity ensuring customers received their beauty boxes and orders without delay, even when national carriers faltered.

Similarly, for international markets, Asendia’s flexible infrastructure allowed the brand to pivot operations seamlessly in response to customs, tariff, or seasonal changes. With dedicated Asendia account management and IT support, operational adjustments could be implemented quickly and efficiently.

As demand in the European market grew, Asendia’s international network provided a natural pathway for expansion. Leveraging Asendia’s German distribution facilities, the brand began staging inventory and fulfillment for EU customers directly within the region. This European hub reduced delivery times, minimized customs hurdles, and improved post-purchase satisfaction.

Unlike competitors limited to domestic networks, Asendia’s global infrastructure (presence in North America, Asia, and Europe) gave the brand flexibility to scale quickly, test new markets, and maintain service consistency across continents all while controlling landed costs and ensuring full compliance with local tax and duty regulations.

The results of the partnership have been transformative. Within months of implementation, the brand experienced:

  • Faster average delivery times for intra-Canada shipments
  • Weekend delivery coverage accounting for 25% of parcels
  • Increased delivery visibility through enhanced photo POD and tracking features
  • Significant reduction in data management time due to automated reporting and billing
  • Smooth customs processing and minimal disruption amid new international requirements

But beyond metrics, what stands out most is the collaborative relationship that showcases this success.

“Asendia USA’s services have elevated our entire delivery experience,” said the brand’s Director of Logistics. “From improving transit times and enabling weekend deliveries in Canada to helping us streamline our international shipping process, their team has been a valuable partner in helping us reach our customers around the world.”

As the brand continues to expand globally, its fulfillment strategy will remain rooted in agility, transparency, and customer experience all supported by Asendia USA’s forward-thinking logistics and IT framework. With a flexible infrastructure and connected data systems, the brand is well-positioned to accelerate growth, expand into new markets, and continue delivering innovation to beauty lovers worldwide.
