GenAI-Powered Product Discovery Set to Transform Retail by 2025

Even after a full two years after the release of ChatGPT, there are still relatively few effective GenAI-powered product discovery experiences for consumers; however, this will begin to change in 2025. Until now, concerns about hallucinations and gaps in user experience have delayed enterprise investments in GenAI-based product discovery.

According to a 2024 McKinsey report, 'Inaccuracy is the only risk that respondents are significantly more likely than last year to say their organizations are actively working to mitigate.’ As companies invest more in refining generative AI models, they are prioritizing improvements in accuracy and the reduction of errors that lead to mistrust. The ability to deliver relevant, reliable product discovery experiences will depend heavily on these refinements. Advances in model training, the emergence of best practices for usability, and the assimilation of project learnings by technology teams will accelerate progress. As consumer adoption of AI via wearables and mobile devices rises, momentum for GenAI-based product discovery will grow as well.
